me dofo

.. that means 'my love' in Twi. So my g4 came in and i am real disappointed ... i just want to ram my head into a wall. Why oh why have i been using a windows machine for the last 5 odd years? someone tell me why a smart, intelligent, and if u dont know as yet, handsome black male could be duped into agonizing over my pc for so long while i coulda been chilling with an apple laptop .... well u get my drift, I love this laptop. End of story! I stayed up till 5 am the first day i got this laptop. This machine is a schweeeeeet beast. so addictive ... my only complaint now is that i have to move all my music from my pc to this machine now... anyone know an easy way to do this, transfer files from a pc to a mac, holla at me and leave me a comment... Until i get over my powerbook addiction I will post only sparingly aight.

i dont wanna wait in vain for ...

uhuh! it is love when you can't sleep, when you start dreaming, fantasizing about all the wonderful things you could do together. planning outdoor picnics during the cold winter, taking extended trips on the train when you could fly and be at your destination in an hour or less, just so you could have time to sit together, chill ... and all that jazz. Yeah I am in love and I haven't even seen you yet. sweet, sleek, smooth, strong and covered in titanium!

uhuh! for my new year's rendezvous under the mistletoe, I choose ...or chose... a new 15" powerbook G4. Sweet ain't it? I refuse to disclose the specs for fear you salivating haters out there might actually get off you asses and get yourself one. After a week of waiting and tracking its tortuous route from China, through Arkansas - Arkansas? why on earth Arkansas? - it should be here soon enough. I have made the switch from windows, perhaps for good. To be precise, I made the switch more than 2 years ago when I tried out the then Linux flavor-du-jour, Mandrake. I will leave the Mandrake story at that. Suffice it to say that my Fedora core 3 installation is peacefully coexisting with my XP partition on my desktop. And i know which of those OSes is going to whine for lack of attention.

if the postman is nice to me, my next post will be from my G4 baby. Go ahead, say envy!

the pundits, the journalist, and the fake news

pundit -'p&n-d&t - a learned man , a person who gives opinions in an authoritative manner
that is culled from the Webster online dictionary. well i feel like ranting about pundits and journalists in general. Yeah! the media has been lambasted on end in the media for being biased towards the liberal media and all that jazz. And who am i to pretend that I know what's the best way for pundits, oops , journalist, to do their job. I am not. All i want to say is, journalist! be a journalist and let the pundits practice their punditry wherever pundits pundit. Dag! imagine going to a dentist to get your teeth taken out and he decides give you a different service today, perhaps castrate you because he thinks its more exciting than extracting teeth. Yeah that's exactly what it is when you turn on your TV each day; instead of insightful reporting and investigative journalism, we are treated to what could only pass as journalism on E!, no disrespect E!, you gets my love, and the occasional(?) verbal abuse viewer's are served. Someone please create a CNN lite or a deblonded, de-noised Fox News and until MSNBC's audience reaches a critical, audible mass, maybe i should request a MSNBC-xxl.

i love the pundits, they add comic relief to the already depressing institution called the 24-hr cable news networks. But I can only stand them for 15 mins of a 24-hr news cycle. I wish that was all the time they were allowed, at least then I can relish the thought of what wrong opinions they can try to jam down my throat in an authoritative manner in the next cycle. At the risk of sounding like a pundit with expertise in gauging public displeasure for news networks, i say my opinion in the most authoritative manner i can typing away on this dilapidated Dell keyboard "give me the news of shut f the up!"

what about the fake news? you forget its sweeps season for bloggers. I had to cash in on "the Daily Shows" publicity. I really have nothing on fake news-ers.

man of the year

so time just voted George W as person of 2004 . You gotta hand it to W, he really made a killing... first the elections, then man of the year, next he'll be taking us to the moon.
i admire W not for any of that religious posturing or ordinary-guy air he carries... i admire him because he won. He won and in the end that's what counts. who cares if he is a guy that says he is a christian and looks the other way when people bear false witness against his opponent, or that he appears more infallible than the one he admires most, or that everyone knows his handling of Iraq, the middle east, and more important to me, African issues or the non-extistence thereof, is so abysmal... in the end he won.
For our meagre lifetime on this planet and as long as our generation lives, that might be the verdict. History on the other hand is no respector of persons. When history is done, then will we know how Time's person of the year 2004, ranks with yesteryear's persons of the year. Congrats Mr. President!

a step in the right direction

so on 12.07, ghanafoo (the citizens of Ghana) went to the polls, made history and showed Americans, the self-described connoisseurs of democracy and its practice, how to get it done. to me the symbolism of this peaceful democratic election is not that the incumbent won, a deserved win i might add, but that it puts to nought any assertions that Africans are brute savages, intent on killing and maiming each other and incapable of self-governance. Ghana has done it, not once, but four times and for a decade and over, democracy - or our local incarnation of a term that has lost meaning to a western civilization that prescribed its healing powers to Africa - has prevailed. all i can say is "ghanafoo, me ma mo amo" - see your local twi-speakingGhanaian for translation and other technical support.

long live Ghana!!
